Three weeks in Australia in March: our itinerary
Planning three weeks in Australia might sound easy. But when it came to creating a plan that fit in every sight we wanted to see, it ended up taking us days – if not weeks. Here's what we settled on.
What to pack for Australia in March
If you’re going to Australia in March and travelling across different states, the chances are you’ll need slightly different clothing for different areas. Here’s what I packed for three weeks.
The best Great Barrier Reef tour in Port Douglas
After plenty of research (thanks Reddit) we decided to book our snorkelling tour of the Great Barrier Reef with Wavelength. I knew the Great Barrier Reef was going to be cool… but I had no idea how amazed I would be.
What is there to do in Port Douglas?
We ended our three weeks in Australia with three nights in Port Douglas. The small beach town is like Airlie Beach, but more tropical and more grown up. Here’s what we did…
Are the Whitsundays worth visiting?
The Whitsunday Islands are one of Australia’s main attractions, with their swirling white sand backs, turquoise seas, and coral reefs. But should they be on your Australia itinerary?
How we spent three days in Tasmania
Realistically, three days in Tasmania isn’t long enough. But it’s as long as we had and we decided we’d rather see it in three days than not at all. It was definitely worth the trip, and left me wanting to go back some day.
Driving Great Ocean Road in three days
There are so many ways to explore the Great Ocean Road. You can walk it, cycle it, drive it over a week or even see it in one day. We decided to explore the coast by car over three days.
How we spent three days in Melbourne
You could definitely spend longer than three days in Melbourne. But we found that it was enough for us to experience the cafe culture, see the main sights in the city centre, and explore the Yarra Valley.
What is there to do at Uluṟu?
There's more to do than you might think at Uluru.
Is Uluṟu worth the trip?
When we were planning our three weeks in Australia, visiting Uluṟu wasn’t a priority for me. But eventually we decided that we might regret going all the way to Aus and not seeing its most famous landmark.
How we spent three days in Sydney
I can’t explain how much I love Sydney. I love any city with a beach or water but Sydney seriously exceeded any expectations that I had. It’s busy and buzzy and fun but still feels so safe and friendly. We explored a bunch of different neighbourhoods and I loved them all – even the CBD.
