Three weeks in Australia in March: our itinerary
Planning three weeks in Australia might sound easy. But when it came to creating a plan that fit in every sight we wanted to see, it ended up taking us days – if not weeks. Usually I like to check out the routes that bigger tour companies take when exploring new countries. But in Aus, we just couldn’t find one that ticked all the boxes. So we had to make our own.
We knew we wanted to see:
Sydney
Melbourne
Tasmania
Uluru
Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef
Great Ocean Road
The Whitsunday Islands
We had already whittled this down from a list that also included Byron Bay, Perth and Rottnest Island, Fraser Island, and more of the East Coast. We also had to choose the best order to see them in. Because, while working from north to south or south to north might seem the most obvious, when it comes to booking flights we found that it didn’t work out that way.
Minimising flights (we got it down to five internal flights rather than the initial eight!) and still accounting just enough time in each location, this was our final three-week Australia itinerary.
