What to pack for a holiday in Fuerteventura

Packing for a holiday in Fuerteventura depends on both the time of year you plan to visit and the type of vacation you have in mind. Your packing needs will differ between a beach getaway in August and a hiking adventure in February. But since the climate in Fuerteventura remains generally good all year round, your essential clothing needs won't vary too much.

This is what I packed for three weeks in November, when it was around 23ºC+ during the day. But make sure you check the forecast before packing for your own trip.

What to pack for the daytime in Fuerteventura

T-shirts, shorts, skirts, and sundresses are all you’ll need during the day in Fuerteventura. Pack your swimwear for the beach and sturdy shoes like trainers as well as sandals. The ground on this volcanic island isn’t always flat. You might want walking boots if you prefer them for hikes.

What to pack for the evening in Fuerteventura

In the evenings, I wore much the same as during the day, only with a layer like a shacket over the top. I brought light trousers, which I wore some evenings. But otherwise, shorts, dresses, and casual shoes with a light layer should be enough for windy Canarian evenings. You could also bring nicer shoes for nights out, but you won’t look out of place without them.

What to pack for hiking in Fuerteventura

Trainers or walking boots. Light and comfortable layers including shorts and vests. And don’t forget your sun protection like hats, sunglasses, and cover-ups. You’ll need them at the beach, too.
